Create Products, Propose Prices and Keep Stock Accurate
Learning path: National Seller | Module 2 of 5 | Estimated time: 40–50 minutes
What you will learn
After this module, you should be able to create or map the exact product, submit a Draft for Admin Review, provide reliable Brand Authority and compliance evidence, submit accurate proposed-price information and maintain available-to-sell stock separately for every Approved Dispatch Location.
1. Understand the National catalogue model
The National Seller may create or upload a product/listing Draft or map to an existing Master Product. A Draft, mapping or proposed price is not customer-visible merely because it was submitted.
Typical status journey
Draft or Existing Product Mapping → proposed-price submission → Pending Admin Review → Approved / Correction Required / Hold for Verification / Rejected → listing and price Active only after SportsMart approval and activation.
Do not bypass a rejection, hold or correction request by creating duplicate products, accounts, brands, categories or variants.
2. Build the exact product record
Use the actual product, package and reliable source records. Include exact brand, model, product type, SKU, size/variant, colour, hand/side, grip, material, weight, pack quantity, accessories, intended sport/user, manufacturer/packer/importer, country of origin, warranty, MRP and required compliance fields.
Stop and correct the record when
• The exact variant or pack quantity is missing.
• Images or attributes do not match the physical product.
• Manufacturer/importer, country-of-origin, warranty or MRP information is wrong.
• Brand Authority or required compliance evidence is unavailable.
• The product appears counterfeit, unsafe, recalled, prohibited or materially misrepresented.
3. Use the correct images and evidence
Catalogue, sourcing and authenticity images support listing review, product identity and compliance. They are different from the order-specific before-packing and after-packing reference photos captured during fulfilment.
Listing images should accurately show the product, colour, accessories and pack quantity. Preserve current Brand Authority, source records, manufacturer/importer records, serial/batch/barcode, warranty/service documents, licences/certificates and claims support.
4. Submit proposed prices safely
The National Seller submits proposed Marketplace prices and price changes through the approved Seller Portal workflow. Provide accurate MRP, proposed price, product-tax information and other requested commercial inputs.
SportsMart validates the proposal against lawful MRP, listing data, commercial configuration and accepted campaigns. A proposed price may be Approved, Rejected, returned for Correction or held for Verification. It becomes customer-facing only after SportsMart activates it.
Before submitting a proposed price, consider
• Purchase or manufacturing cost.
• Inward logistics and packaging.
• Accepted Seller-funded logistics or campaign contribution.
• Marketplace Commission and GST on commission.
• Seller-fault return/RTO exposure.
• Statutory deductions and target margin.
Never advertise, invoice or promise a price that is not the current activated Marketplace price.
5. Calculate available-to-sell stock
Available-to-sell quantity = physical saleable stock − reserved stock − safety stock − damaged/quarantined/recalled/expired stock − return-pending-QC stock − already allocated stock.
Example
Physical saleable stock: 20 units; reserved: 3; safety stock: 2; quarantined: 1; allocated orders: 4. Available-to-sell = 20 − 3 − 2 − 1 − 4 = 10 units.
6. Maintain stock by Approved Dispatch Location
Maintain inventory, parcel limits, pickup cutoffs, tax readiness and return/RTO routing separately for each Approved Dispatch Location. Update stock after sales, reservations, purchase/manufacturing receipt, cancellations, return QC, damage, recall, transfer or manual correction.
Do not show supplier stock, expected production, goods in transit or stock at an unapproved location as immediately available.
Daily stock rhythm
Start of day: review orders, reservations, low stock and previous exceptions.
During the day: update sales and reservations, quarantine damaged or suspect units, monitor integration errors and apply safety stock.
End of day: reconcile order deductions, cancellations, returns and manual adjustments; investigate unusual variance.
7. Correct listing, price and stock problems
Correct the underlying record and use the accurate workflow. Do not substitute another variant, advertise an inactive price or reactivate uncertain stock. Preserve the evidence supporting corrections and stop affected activity where authenticity, safety, authority or stock cannot be reliably confirmed.
Practical task
Choose one real product. Prepare a safe sample record containing: product/SKU/variant; National role and Brand Authority; Approved Dispatch Location; MRP; proposed price; product-tax information; listing images; compliance evidence; physical saleable stock; exclusions; and available-to-sell quantity. Submit no live Draft or proposed price until every mismatch is resolved.
Self-check
1. Is a submitted Draft automatically customer-visible?
2. Who validates and activates the customer-facing National price?
3. What is the difference between catalogue images and order-specific fulfilment photos?
4. Which stock categories must be excluded from available-to-sell quantity?
5. What should happen when Brand Authority or product safety is unclear?
Ready to continue?
Continue only when the sample product, authority, listing data, proposed price, physical stock and Approved Dispatch Location record agree. Next: 03 – Process Orders, Pack and Deliver.
