Set Up Your National Seller Account
Learning path: National Seller | Module 1 of 5 | Estimated time: 30–40 minutes
What you will learn
After this module, you should be able to explain the National Seller role, confirm Brand Authority, complete account and bank readiness checks, identify authorised users, verify Approved Dispatch Locations and system-based serviceability, and complete the go-live readiness check.
1. Understand your National Seller role
The National Seller is the independent seller of record for each Marketplace customer sale. It remains responsible for lawful product supply, physically available inventory, accurate product and proposed-price information within its control, customer invoicing, Seller-side fulfilment, warranty/service cooperation, recall traceability and evidence.
Eligible National roles
Approved Brand Owners, Manufacturers, Importers of Record, Principal Authorised Brand Operators and Authorised Distributors may participate when their authority is sufficient for the products and territories involved. A general trading relationship or supplier invoice alone does not automatically establish Brand Authority.
You must
• Use the correct legal entity and approved National Seller Account.
• Maintain current Brand Authority, manufacturer/importer authority or other accepted product-rights evidence.
• Supply genuine, lawful and approved products.
• Issue the customer invoice in the Seller’s legal name/GSTIN where applicable.
• Maintain physically available stock at each Approved Dispatch Location.
• Follow the accepted agreement, commercial schedule, policies, SOPs and current Seller Portal workflow.
You must not
• Treat SportsMart as the seller or brand owner of your product.
• Use another seller’s account, location, bank details, tax identity or Brand Authority.
• Accept an order that is not system-eligible from the allocated Approved Dispatch Location.
• Advertise a proposed Marketplace price before SportsMart activates it.
• Share credentials or allow unauthorised personnel or vendors to operate the account.
2. Complete legal, tax and bank verification
Confirm the legal name, entity type, PAN, GSTIN where applicable, registered/business address, authorised signatory, primary contact, grievance contact, bank beneficiary and other requested KYC/KYB information. Account information must match supporting documents. Report material changes through the approved workflow.
Bank and payout safety
Use a bank account held in the approved Seller’s name or otherwise accepted through verification. Independently verify sensitive account or bank-detail changes. Never share an OTP, password, UPI PIN, card PIN/CVV or banking authentication secret with a person claiming to process a change.
3. Establish Brand Authority and product responsibility
Maintain evidence appropriate to the approved National role, including brand ownership or authorisation, manufacturer/importer records, product rights, licences/certificates, claims support, warranty/service capability and recall traceability. Confirm that authority covers the products, brands and territories being submitted.
Brand Authority must remain current. When authority expires, is restricted, disputed or withdrawn, stop affected listing or fulfilment activity and use the approved compliance route.
4. Accept the correct Seller Terms Package
Review the exact National Seller Agreement, Commercial Schedule and applicable documents presented for acceptance. Confirm the displayed commission and Seller-specific values before Electronic Acceptance. Preserve the acceptance record and applicable document copy. Learning completion is not a substitute for contractual acceptance.
5. Set up authorised users
Create named, attributable users with the minimum permissions required. Separate account administration, catalogue/pricing, inventory, order processing and finance access where practical. Remove or reduce access promptly after a role change, resignation, vendor change or suspected compromise. Use MFA where supported or required.
Account safety check
□ Each user has an individual login.
□ Passwords and OTPs are not shared.
□ Former employees and vendors no longer have access.
□ Proposed-price and bank-detail changes are independently checked.
□ Material Security Incidents can be reported within 24 hours.
6. Verify Approved Dispatch Locations
Each dispatch location requires verification and Active status. Approval of one location does not approve another. Confirm address, pincode, operating hours, pickup contact, tax linkage, return/RTO destination, parcel limits, pickup cutoffs and logistics mapping.
National serviceability
No fixed kilometre radius applies. Same-city, statewide and inter-State/national fulfilment may be available only when the specific order is system-eligible from an Approved Dispatch Location. Carrier coverage alone does not guarantee eligibility. Never manually promise a destination or delivery service that the current Seller Portal has not enabled.
7. Confirm tax and invoice readiness
Verify GST registration and product-tax information where applicable, invoice series, legal name, address and GSTIN. Do not guess HSN/GST or manually alter system-approved order values. Obtain qualified tax advice where treatment is unclear; this material is operational guidance, not tax advice.
8. Complete the go-live readiness check
Do not begin live fulfilment until the following are ready:
□ Legal entity, PAN/GST and bank beneficiary verified.
□ National role and Brand Authority records accepted and current.
□ Seller Terms Package electronically accepted.
□ Approved Dispatch Locations and return/RTO routes active.
□ Authorised users and backup order owner available.
□ Approved categories and product authority identified.
□ Catalogue Draft/mapping and proposed-price workflows understood.
□ Invoice, printer/label and packaging process tested.
□ Device, camera and Seller Portal photo-upload process tested using a safe sample order.
□ Location-level stock-update process works.
□ Courier handover and evidence process understood.
□ Support, grievance, counterfeit/safety/recall and security routes understood.
Practical task
Using the actual account or a safe training copy, complete an Account Readiness Note containing: Seller legal name; Seller Account ID; approved National role; Brand Authority status; Approved Dispatch Locations; return/RTO locations; authorised users and roles; bank beneficiary status; GST status; invoice readiness; camera and photo-upload readiness; backup order owner; and unresolved items. Do not record passwords, OTPs or bank authentication data.
Self-check
1. Who is the seller of record for a National Marketplace sale?
2. Does carrier coverage alone make an order serviceable?
3. May a proposed Marketplace price be advertised before SportsMart activates it?
4. What should happen when Brand Authority expires or is disputed?
5. Does completing this module activate the Seller account?
